The Dr Kasembeli Research Centre aim is to offer support and mentorship for researchers and writers majorly on the African Continent. The Centre was born out of the desire to facilitate Knowledge production and dissemination in marginalised regions, to supervise and offer academic guidance to Master’s PhD and Research writers. The centre is keep to create awareness on marginalises of race, dance and cultural stereotypes. Overall, the Centre initiates avenues to address Epistemic Violence/ shift a subjective knowledge industry

Dr Kasembeli Research Centre’s need to facilitate access to research publication and postgraduation studies emerged out of two cases:

Two students who had embarked on their post-graduate degrees at the University of Nairobi way before other students has started their PhD overseas where still struggling to complete their core 4 years after the Foreign      enrolled students had already obtained their PhD’s. This is a common story for most of the consultants at the Centre: Each can list several friends or colleagues who took up to 7 or more years to complete their PhDs as a result of external factors mostly supervision and access to literature. This was a question of access and many times the lack of networks.

This strain in higher education and research pushed the birth of this Research Centre. The challenge in some of the African Universities is the scarcity of Faculty mostly manifested in the lack of motivation of Faculty- sometimes its renumeration other times is workload.This challenge in terms of faculty directly links to extreme challenges with regard to postgraduate supervision. The other major challenge in most African Universities is the limitation access to literature.
